Long gon are the days of incremental world-building told over numerous films. The DCU is already packed with notable DC metahumans.

James Gunn’sSuperman(2025)introduces aHall of Justice muralfeaturing over two dozen legacy metahumans. These heroes existed long before Superman’s debut, hinting at a richly layered DC Universe filled with centuries of superpowered activity. Combined with the animatedCreature Commandos, these metahumans reveal the DCU’s deep history.

Sister Symmetry DC Comics

While not confirmed, it seems that the DCU is using a different definition for metahumans than DC Comics. In the comics, Meta-Humans are people with a specific gene, much like Marvel’s X-Men. In the DCU, the term is applied to all humanoid figures with some kind of superpower. As such, Batman, though established in-universe, does not technically count.

Sister Symmetry appears in the Hall of Justice mural inSuperman(2025) as a cosmic sorceress who channels celestial energy. Sherepresents the mystical legacyof magic-wielding heroes in the DCU.

41Silent Knight

Silent Knight is a sixth-century warrior named Brian Kent who defended Britain. As seen in the Hall of Justice mural, he’s adorned in classical armor and wields a mighty sword. Silent Knight has appeared in numerous time travel narratives, during one of which hemet his adoptive descendant,Superman.

40Exoristos

Exoristos is a powerful warrior with ties to the Amazons. She is included in the Hall of Justice mural as a historical protector of Earth. She brings an early Themysciran presence to the DCU timeline that’sonly been hinted at so far.

39Black Pirate

The Black Pirate is a swashbuckling adventurer from the 16th Century. He was one of DC’s earliest heroic figuresand part of the legendary Five Warriors from Forever. Black Pirate also appeared in theSuperman(2025) mural.

38Miss Liberty

Miss Liberty is a Revolutionary War heroine, representsthe spirit of American independence. Her mural placement inSuperman(2025) honors her place as one of the DCU’s oldest costumed defenders.

37Max Mercury (Whip Whirlwind)

Max Mercury appears in his earlier identity as Whip Whirlwind in the Hall of Justice mural inSuperman(29025). He’sa speedster from the 19th centuryand precursor to modern Flashes, many whom he later mentors.

36El Diablo

El Diablo, also known as Lazarus Lane, isa cursed Western antihero. He channels demonic energy to fight injustice across the frontier. He appears inSupermanas part of the Hall of Justice mural.

35Chop-Chop

Chop-Chop was a World War II pilot and resistance fighter. He wasoriginally the chef for the Blackhawk Squandrenbefore becoming a full member. His inclusion in the Hall of Justice mural acknowledges the breadth of global heroes in the DCU.

34Ghost Of Flanders

The Ghost of Flanders is a masked vigilante from World War I known as Rip Graves. He’s shownbattling injustice during one of the darkest chaptersin world history. He also appears in theSupermanmural.

33Golden Age Sandman

Wesley Dodds, the original Sandman,uses prophetic dreams to fight crime.His gas mask and trench coat appearance make him one of DC’s earliest mystery men. Sandman is featured as part of the Hall of Justice mural.
