Marvel is taking theX-Menin a dark direction with the upcomingAge of Revelationcrossover event, and some fans believe that will include a startlingescalation of the rivalry betweenCyclopsandWolverine…by turning Logan into an assassin once more, and making him into a servant ofRevelation, the heir to Apocalypse.
Amazing X-Men#1, written by Jed McKay, with art by Mahmud Asrar, will follow the X-Men ten years in the future, as they fight against Revelation’s oppressive regime.
Their enemies, however, include some familiar faces, and while it isn’t confirmed, readers have started to suspect Wolverine will be one of them.

Amazing X-Men#1 begins with the team"on the runafter a deadly clash with Revelation’s chief assassin," and the current speculation is that this will turn out to be Wolverine.Preview images forAge of Revelationhave shown Wolverine with an ominous-looking redesign, including a metal faceplate that gives him a sinister grin.
There is certainly a “bad guy” vibe to it, leading fans to suggest Logan will be one of Revelation’s servants. Further adding fuel to this theory is the fact thatanotherAge of Revelationtie-in title,The Last Wolverine, is set to focus on “Logan’s last student,” with the synopsis for issue #1 also asking: “but what happened to Wolverine?”
In other words, Marvel wants readers wondering about Wolverine’s whereabouts in theAge of Revelationfuture. This is set up for a major reveal, and the confirmation that stalwart mutant hero Wolverine has fallen into the service of Revelation would certainly qualify. More crucially, it would take Wolverine’s feud with Cyclops to another level.

Cyclops is still the leader of the X-Menin theAge of Revelationfuture, but he carries the weight of feeling responsible for the dark future; this was confirmed inAge of Revelation#0, which showed that Cyclops' decision to allow Revelation to join the X-Men set off the chain of events that led to the devastation of the future.
As such, pitting an antagonistic Wolverine against him would be a gamechanger for Cyclops’Age of Revelationstory arc. If this turns out to be the case, it is going to set upone of the most violent confrontations between theWolverineandCyclopsinX-Menhistory, and no one can say for sure what the outcome will be.
