The upcoming medical comedy series, which isbased on the British showDoc Martin, will air on Fox and follow the brilliant surgeon Dr. Martin Best when he leaves Boston behind and continues his work in a small fishing village where he vacationed as a child.
The Good Wifestar Josh Charles has been cast as Best, who lacks a good bedside manner and wants to be left alone, but keeps finding himself pulled into the town’s problems.Suitsactor Abigail Spencer will play school teacher Louisa Glasson, who will grow close to Best. Production is set to begin this summer.

InBest Medicine, he will portray the kind and likable Sheriff Mark Mylow, who becomes friendly with Best while also being jealous of the surgeon’s relationship with Louisa.

With Segarra’s casting revealed only hours after it was reported that Spencer had joined the cast,Best Medicinehas now cast three key series regulars. Adding Charles, Spencer, and Segarra to the cast indicates Fox’s push to move the series forward in order to have the show ready to debut during this fall’s network television season.
While NBC hasSt. Denis Medicalseason 2in the medical comedy department, it seems thatFox is trying to develop their own rival show withBest Medicine. Bringing in recognizable talent from former and current popular network shows can help bring more attention and interest to the upcoming series.
Segarra’s character, Sheriff Mylow, will be an important fixture of the comedy. It sounds like hewill have a bromance with Best, but there will also be an uncomfortable love triangle situation involving the two of them and Louisa, which will inevitably elicit plenty of humor and drama.

It’s Great News, Despite What It Means For Abbott Elementary Season 5
With Manny being one of my favoriteside characters inAbbott Elementary, I amexcited to see Segarra take on a larger role inBest Medicine. Manny’s lovable, energetic, and optimistic nature makes him a character who is fun to watch, and these are traits that can translate well to playing Sheriff Mylow.
Josh Segarra also starred in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Disney+ showShe-Hulk: Attorney At Law.
Being a series regular onBest Medicinealso means that Segarra either will not appear inAbbott Elementaryseason 5or will only make a brief appearance. As much as I enjoy his character, he is not pivotal to the ABC comedy, especially with Janine no longer working at the school district office, and I am happy to see Segarra in a larger part in another series.
