What This Means For A Working Man

How The Film’s Theatrical Performance Compares To The Beekeeper

The Beekeeperwas a surprise success early last year, hitting theaters on January 12 and earning positive reviews from both critics and audiences, in addition to becoming a box office hit at $162 million worldwide. It achieved this success despite hitting VOD platforms less than a month later on July 11, 2025.A Working Man, then, has had about the same exclusive theatrical window, butit hasn’t quite managed to matchThe Beekeeper’ssuccess, only grossing about $79 million worldwide. Both films are believed to be budgeted around $40 million.

At a $40 million budget,A Working Mancould be looking at a break-even point of $80 million or higher, meaning it may not become profitable in theaters. There’s reason to believe, however, that it could be a hit on VOD. ThoughA Working Manreviewswere mixed from critics, the film has fared far better with general audiences. OnRotten Tomatoes, for example, the critics' score is only 50%, butthe Popcornmeter score is an impressive 87%. This audience response could be a sign of strong performance to come on home viewing platforms.

Our Take On A Working Man’s VOD Release

Jason Statham Remains An Audience Draw

For over two decades now, Statham has been a reliable leading man in action thriller movies. Though it would be fair to criticize many of these films and Statham’s characters in them for all feeling very similar,Statham does excel as a no-nonsense, man-of-few-words action hero. Even if critics may not always love the films, the audience responses can be far more positive.A Working Manfits this mold and doesn’t really break any new ground for the actor, but there are worse ways to spend a Friday night.

ThoughA Working Mandidn’t repeatThe Beekeeper’s success, it does suggest thatStatham and Ayer are an interesting pairing. As of writing, the two don’t seem to have any collaborations on the horizon, with directing duties on theannouncedThe Beekeeper 2instead falling to Timo Tjahjanto. Hopefully, however,A Working Mandoesn’t mark the last time Statham and Ayer team up for an exciting action movie.
